Adam Auckburally BVSc, Cert VA, DipECVAA, PGCAP, FHEA, MRCVS
Adam qualified from Liverpool University in 1998, and went on to spend 6 years in a busy mixed veterinary practice in rural Staffordshire, where he developed a keen interest in anaesthesia and critical care. He then completed a residency at Glasgow University and was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia in 2006, and the European Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia & Analgesia in 2007. For the last 10 years, Adam has been working as a senior clinician at the University of Glasgow’s teaching hospitals and is a European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia & Analgesia.
Derek Flaherty BVMS, DVA, DipECVAA, MRCA, FHEA, FRCVS
Derek qualified from Glasgow University in 1988, and then spent 6 years working for the PDSA before returning to Glasgow to undertake a residency in veterinary anaesthesia. He holds both the RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia and the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, and is a European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in the subject. He has also gained membership of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, one of only a handful of vets granted this honour. Derek has been Professor of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at Glasgow University since 2012, and was awarded FRCVS in 2017 for Meritorious Contribution to Clinical Practice.
